John Kelly attended “9-1-1 Goes to Washington” presented by the National Emergency Number Association 

John Kelly attended “9-1-1 Goes to Washington” which was held March 17-20, 2013 at the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington D.C. and presented by the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).  This program brought together hundreds of 9-1-1 professionals from around the country along with policy leaders to explore and discuss today’s most pressing 9-1-1 and emergency communication issues.

John Kelly will participate in the Chicago-Kent College of Law Conference
John Kelly will participate in the 28th Annual Chicago-Kent College of Law Public Sector Labor Relations Law Conference to be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 in Chicago.  Mr. Kelly will be part of a Police and Firefighter forum.  This conference is designed for lawyers whose practice involves labor law, local government law or school law; for state and local government and public education officials, administrators and labor relations officers; union officials, business agents and uniserv directors; and for arbitrators and mediators.
 
Steve DiNolfo spoke at the IPELRA Annual Conference in Galena, Illinois
On October 23rd 2012, Steve DiNolfo spoke on “Unfit for Duty: To Discipline or Not” at the Illinois Public Employer Labor Relations Association’s annual conference. This session provided guidance on the relationship between discipline, ADA, FMLA and the employee’s ability to perform his or her job. The conference took place October 21-24 at the Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa in Galena.

John Kelly will speak on “ETSB Responsibilities and Updates” as well as “To Post or Not to Post:  The Social Networks of 9-1-1 Centers” on October 23rd.  The conference is being held October 21st through the 24th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield.

Eleventh Annual School Law Conference to be held in September
Ottosen Britz will host the Eleventh Annual School Law Conference on Thursday, September 27, 2012.  The conference will be held at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville in Lisle, Illinois.  Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the program running from 8:00 a.m. until noon with lunch immediately following.
 
John Kelly spoke on a panel at a recent seminar put on by the Homeland Security and Emergency Communications Committee
John Kelly was a panelist for  “The Elephant in the 9-1-1 System: Interconnection in a Mixed Architecture World” as part of a continuing legal education seminar put on by the Homeland Security and Emergency Communications Committee of the Federal Communications Bar Association. The presentation took place in Washington D.C. on September 12, 2012. John highlighted the regulatory framework in which 9-1-1 systems must operate in the Next Generation world. 
 
John Kelly was part of a panel discussion at the Illinois Institute of Technology Real-Time Communications Conference
John Kelly took part in a panel discussion entitled “NG9-1-1 Public Policy 2012” at the Illinois Institute of Technology Real-Time Communications Conference on September 10, 2012.  John joined a national panel reviewing the legal hurdles of establishing public policy regarding the implementation of NG9-1-1.

John Kelly spoke at the 9-1-1 Coordinators’ Conference in St, Augustine, Florida
John Kelly participated in the Spring 9-1-1 Coordinators’ Meeting where he presented “Liability Issues in the 9-1-1 Center” on May 3rd 2012.  This semi-annual conference gathers all 9-1-1 coordinators from each county in Florida. The purpose is to update the attendees on current topics and to provide educational opportunities.

On April 17th 2012, John Kelly spoke on the “Liability Issues in the Communications Center” and “Social Networking in the Dispatch Center”.  This symposium was an opportunity for those in the public safety community to gain knowledge and learn about new technologies and services.
